Wally Gives Exclusive Interview
An exclusive interview with Wally by feature writer Sissy Katz from Smarty Paws Magazine
Sissy Katz: Wally, everybody is raving about your book Wally’s Survival Guide. You are such a celebrity! I am excited to get an exclusive interview!
Wally: Thank you Ms. Katz. Is it okay if I just call you Sissy? You have great nails, by the way.
Sissy Katz: Wally, I’d be flattered. I’m going to ask you some questions. I know our readers would love to hear your answers. First, what is your book about?
Wally: Well Sissy, my life got messed up from being sick so I developed all these strategies to avoid taking that awful medicine. I was miserable. I wanted to disappear so badly that I learned everything I could about the famous magician Harry Houdini’s disappearing acts. I became a master of disguise. I even spent a night in jail with real criminals. Not just cat burglars, either. I would say it’s about discovering the power of my mind. My mom taught me that.
Sissy Katz: Wally, why did you write this book?
Wally: I started writing in my diary when I was little. I wrote about how my parents taught me to be strong as a lion. They told me I could do anything and be anything. When I was diagnosed with a scary illness, I felt all alone and sad. I wrote down all my feelings and everything. It turned into this book.
Sissy Katz: If there is one thing you want to tell your readers, what would it be?
Wally: That you are not alone. Whether you are a very sad person and everything seems hopeless, or kids bully and tease you, or something bad happened to your family or you have a scarifying illness, I know what it feels like to be left out of life. So know there is someone out there like you. Just keep on keepin’ on. I mean, how can you have a rainbow without rain?
CatSissy Katz: How long did it take you to write this book.
Wally: I worked on it for four years with my mom. While I was writing, she took pictures of me. I even have baby pictures she took when I was a few weeks old. They are not in this book though.
Sissy Katz: In your book you tell how your mom hypnotized you. Is that really true?
Wally: Yeah. My mom is a certified hypnotherapist. She taught me to use my mind to trick the illness into believing I had the power to destroy it. I became Wallyman with super strength.
And I had a crew of super heroes too!
Sissy Katz: I guess you feel like you are one cool cat.
Wally: Well, not just because I won. My mom said what really makes you cool is having the courage to battle through dark times.
Sissy Katz: Did you write any other books?
Wally: I am writing a book about my early childhood and my invention that made me famous.
